Introducing the BIRP (and the Software Rank)
|
Hi everybody! I'm the BIRP!
I stand for Bulk Image Resize Project and I'm built for the Blow Me Down. A lot of people have been complaining that the site only allows for 75 megabyte picture archives, but many cameras take pictures on their highest setting that produce pictures that size up to 3 or 4 megabytes! That allows for only a handful of photos, at best!
Well, now hold on a second! The problem isn't that the site isn't allowing for enough photos! It's that your photos are like seven mega-pixels! It's that your photos are taken at a ridiculously high compression level! Why upload pictures that are 8 times bigger than the website will ever display, at three times the quality that the website needs?
Why? Because there's no program on the net that will simply resize pictures, in bulk, down to a maximum dimension, with a customizable quality setting, without a price tag! And even if there was one, there's no way it would be available for PC, Macintosh or Linux!
Until now!
Version 1.0 of myself does exactly what I just said could not be done. It's a Java application, making it completely cross platform. Just run me, pick a folder full of pictures, pick a maximum dimension and a quality. Then press go. Moments later, you've got a set of resized photos to create an archive of and send up to The Blow Me Down! No hassle, easy to use, and best of all: FREE!
Regards,
BIRP
